Progressing to Postgrad: Megan

Megan Roberts is a Class of 2022 Geography graduate who is now working as a Geography Teacher at Woodchurch High School, Wirral.

I applied for my PGCE at Liverpool Hope University halfway through my third year at the University of Liverpool.

I was given lots of advice through the teaching in geography module on my BA course. I graduated with a 2:1 and then went straight on to do my PGCE. In the PGCE I did two placements that lasted six months each, and during this time, I had to create schemes of work and teach lessons.

In the January I went for my first teaching interview and I got the job, and I am now currently teaching the next generation of geographers!

My favourite experience so far is having loads of emails from GCSE and A level students on results day letting me know how well they did!

Teaching is an extremely challenging career, but it has been super rewarding.

 My advice to current students:

1) Go into something your passionate about
2) It’s okay to have a wobble and do something else, you’re not glued down to a job forever
3) There’s more to life then work, stay in touch with your friends, spend time with your family
