Love Liverpool: Jessy

Jessy studied both undergraduate and postgraduate in Liverpool, graduated in 2023 with a MRES Palaeoanthropology degree. She tells us all about her current role and why she loves Liverpool.

I found my current role on Handshake and believed I was suitable for the role, so I decided to apply!

The reason I chose to stay in Liverpool is because I love the city, and my favourite place are the docks. The people are exceptionally friendly, and especially those who work in the Uni.

I have also become familiar with every corner in campus so working in the university after graduation feels less intimidating. It feels like a smooth transition from student life to being a part of the workforce. The familiarity in both the surrounding and the community makes this step more assuring and less scary.

I am very grateful that my role as an International Data Insight allows myself to draw upon my previous experience as an international student, enable myself to aid those currently navigating university lives. Understanding the reasons behind the numbers and being able to use my knowledge to support those who find themselves in a situation like where I once was brings a profound sense of fulfilment.

My advice to any current students and recent graduates who are looking for opportunities is; don’t be afraid to reach out for help, there are lots of people who are willing to help in the Uni, especially in the Career Studio. All the resources are there for a purpose.
