How did you hear about your opportunity?

It was a difficult time to look for jobs because of the macroeconomic environment we were in, so it took me a few months until I finally got this offer. However, I first heard about this company at UoL when they came to introduce their firm and what they were doing. One of my professors recommended it to us and a colleague was working there, so it was worth trying to apply for a job with them.

How did you get to where you are now?

I have had a complex path because I studied Industrial Engineering in Spain and I did my last year of my undergraduate in Liverpool. I then realised I wanted to switch my career into Finance and I did a masters in Finance and Investment Management at UoL, where I was awarded with “Student of the Year”. Shortly after, I passed the CFA Exam Level 1 and I worked hard to get a job in the sector that I liked.

What is your favourite experience as part of your role?

The favourite part of my current role is getting to know people, especially Investment Managers, as they share with me the passion in Markets and Economics. The overall experience is great, as I am fulfilling a dream I had when I realised I did not want to work as an engineer.

What was the most challenging part of your graduate journey?

As COVID policies were still in place, it was not easy to have a “normal” university life where you could make friends and attend classes at campus. Eventually everything ended up very well for me but I struggled at the beginning with it.

What are your top 3 tips for current students and graduates?

  1. Never is late to change your career if that is what makes you happy.
  2. Always try to give the best of yourself, no matter what.
  3. Enjoy the life at UoL because the atmosphere and experience is unforgettable.
