Jenson Benny George is a LivUni international graduate who, after completion of his MSc in Finance and Investment Management, now works as a Trainee Management Accountant at Radius Payment Solutions. Jenson shares more about his job search post-graduation.

How did you hear about your opportunity?

I had applied for my role through LinkedIn.

How did you get to where you are now?

I was a 23 year old with a B.Com (Honours) degree coming from India while having cleared 10 papers in my ACCA qualification with no full-time job experience when I had applied for my Masters in Finance and Investment Management at the University of Liverpool. While my course was very challenging, I was really interested in learning the investment side of finance and I surpassed my expectations and acquired a wealth of knowledge beyond what I initially anticipated. Despite earning my Master's degree in Investment Management, I elected to begin my professional journey in Accounting, as it was an area I was more familiar and passionate about and after an extensive job search for few months following the completion of my dissertation, I was fortunate enough to secure a position as a Trainee Management Accountant.

What is your favourite experience as part of your role?

My favourite experience as part of my role would definitely be collaborating with and learning from senior team members as well as, developing new skills and gaining hands-on experience in accounting and finance.

What was the most challenging part of your graduate journey?

There were many challenges to my graduate journey and while they were tough, I am certainly glad to have gone through those experience as I believe they are crucial lessons to mould my future.

In a nutshell, I would say, it was adapting to a new cultural and academic environment and balancing my coursework and assignments while taking care of my mental health.
