Anna Billingsley is a Class of 2021 Law graduate, now working as a Trainee Solicitor at Farleys Solicitors LLP.

How did you hear about the role?

By phone call from the trainee principal at the firm.

How did you get to where you are now?

A lot of hard work! In all honesty, I am only where I am now due to sheer hard work and dedication to my future. My family’s support was also a massive factor in getting me to where I am now, I couldn’t have done it without them!

What has been your favourite experience as part of your role?

I haven’t actually started my role yet, I am due to start it in September this year. But I am extremely excited to experience the inner workings of solicitor life!

What was the most challenging part of your graduate journey?

Balancing my social life with my study, especially in freshers where it was paramount that you got involved in student life! Surround yourself with people with a similar attitude and aspirations to make this balance easier.

What are your top three tips for students and graduates?

  1. Enjoy it! If I could go back to my first year at uni at Carni, I would do so in a heartbeat. Those friends you meet in the first few weeks will most likely become friends for life, so enjoy your time with them!

  2. Book your library space to force yourself to go and do work. This was one of the only ways I could focus in third year during covid - I especially loved the seats in Harold Cohen facing Abercromby Square.

  3. Get rid of any distractions, it really isn’t worth blowing your entire degree on a silly distraction that won’t matter in a few years time!
