I Got Hired: Senior Paralegal

Class of 2021 Law graduate James Nolan, tells us about his career after graduation and his top tips for students.

What is your current role and organisation you work for?

Senior Paralegal at Lender and Court Services.

How did you hear about the role?

Via LinkedIn.

How did you get to where you are now?

Following graduation in July 2021, I entered my current employer as an opportunity to gain some valuable work experience. As a result of hitting targets early on I was afforded the opportunity to become a senior member of staff and manage a small team of caseworkers.

What is your favourite experience as part of your role?

Managing client’s and their expectations is valuable in the field of Law. Helping other members of staff achieve their goals makes you feel a valued member of a team.

What was the most challenging part of your graduate journey?

This definitely has to be balancing client expectations and the realistic prospect and outcome of a case.

What are your top three tips for other students?

1. It is key to balance workload’s and deadlines with a healthy amount of free time so you can stay focused.

2. Ensure you are committed to whatever you seek to achieve.

3. Enjoy what you do and it makes difficult tasks simpler.
