Graduate

Joel Hallam is a Class of 2021 Law graduate who is currently working as a Sales Professional at BT.

HOW DID YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

I moved away from a career in Law as a career in Sales was more suited to me and my skillset. My Law degree has helped me massively in this role, particularly on the commercial and contractual side. Having been in the role for just over a year, I am one of the youngest yet a top performer and have always been above target. I mange relationships and sell services into large companies which at the age of 22 is something I am very proud of. My highlight is pitching to Chipotle Mexican Grill and winning all of their UK business.

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE ROLE?

I was approached by a recruiter and progressed through a number of interviews to tailor a number of positions which I chose from.

YOUR FAVOURITE EXPERIENCE AS PART OF YOUR ROLE?

My favourite experience was winning an award for my sales achievement and a successful customer experience campaign. I was taken to The Shard in London for an all expenses paid trip.

THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF YOUR GRADUATE JOURNEY?

Changing to a new industry was challenging at first as all of my knowledge was on the legal side. However, I found this has actually helped me as I have found there is a lot of similarities between Law and Sales. Changing industry actually made me more of an attractive candidate as I am a specialist in an area most people aren't in this industry.
