Lydia Hawley is a Communication & Media with Business Studies graduate, now working as a Project & Operations Executive at Hello Earth.

During my final exams in third year, I started applying for jobs within the Marketing Industry, and I was lucky to land a position as a Client Executive at Threefold. I loved working in the company and learning hands on experience in Retail Media, as well as working alongside large client across Electricals and Gaming.

More recently, I have wanted to expand my skills and development and move into a project role at Hello Earth.

My current role is giving me insights into commercial accruement and operations of a marketing agency, which aligns perfectly with my studies degree at the University of Liverpool.

Networking and LinkedIn has really helped me with my career since leaving university. I’ve noticed the importance of leaving a positive impact with people, as well as building strong relationships.

My favourite experience was visitng the BAFTA HQ for the Xbox QBR with The Very Group which was a mind-blowing experience. It was amazing to be at an event which centred around planning large releases over the upcoming year.

The adjustment from exams and revision into a full-time position was challenging as it was such a different experience, but I adapted to the change quickly!

My top 3 tips for current students:

  1. Grab any opportunity that is offered to you from the University, especially an experience that might push you out of your comfort zone, it will grow confidence!
  2. Build your LinkedIn profile and be proud of your achievements.
  3. Network and build relationships with your peers and lecturers, you can always learn from others.
