I Got Hired: Legal Assistant at ESP Utilities

Posted on: 23 March 2023 by Samantha Riella in Graduate stories

Harry Chambers is a Bachelor of Laws graduate now working as a Legal Assistant at ESP Utilities.

How did you get to where you are now?

My first post-uni role was working in Title Indemnity, providing insurance to Solicitors relating to defective title, I was then approached by a recruiter to join ESP as a Legal Assistant, and I started here at the start of August 2022.

What has been your best experience as part of your role?

I would say, so far, my favourite experience has been drafting leases.

What has been the most challenging part of your graduate journey?

Getting the first job, I had a fair few interviews, and my confidence was knocked at times, but the hard work paid off.

What are your top tips for other students and graduates?

  1. Definitely set up a LinkedIn account, so many recruiters and jobs are on there.
  2. Ask questions of your lecturers, they are there to help so use their expertise, I used to send them emails all the time.
  3. Join a society or sport, being part of LURFC was the best part of my time at UoL.
