The University of Bath is an internationally recognised leader in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Established in 1956, the University has more than 13,000 undergraduate and 5,000 postgraduate students. It has consistently ranked among the very best of the UKs universities since its establishment. Consisting of four Faculties, and 21 Departments, the University prides itself on providing highly connected, interdisciplinary pioneering solutions to many of the most globally pressing grand challenges. The University homes a wide-range of cutting-edge analytical equipment and comprehensive material and chemical characterisation suites, as well as one of the UK's principal nanofabrication facilities, which provides access to state-of-the-art lithographic tools, thin film and nanoscale deposition facilities, as well as dedicated wet chemistry laboratories, cleanroom infrastructure and extensive electronic characterisation facilities.

Through the development of state-of-the-art nanomaterial growth and integration processes, the Vacuum Nano Electronics Laboratory, in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, is an international leader in the field of advanced nanomaterial-based electron source technologies. Home to unique nanomaterial growth and patterning systems, the Vacuum Nano Electronics Laboratory is distinctively placed to design, grow, fabricate and measure novel nanoengineered 1D and 2D nanomaterial-based electron emission devices by building new technologies at the atomic scale.
