Zoo and wildlife post-mortem examinations

We routinely perform post mortem examinations (PME) for local zoos. We accept submissions for PME from zoos and safari parks.

  • Necropsies can be performed at Leahurst on animals up to 2 tons in weight.
  • For larger animals, a field PME can be arranged upon request and based on staff availability
  • Primate PME should be discussed with us in advance
  • The material obtained by the pathology service is used for both undergraduate and postgraduate training and research in veterinary pathology.
