About

I joined the department as assistant to the Impacts 08 research programme, investigating Liverpool's hosting of the European Capital of Culture programme in 2008, and following this completed doctoral research as part of an AHRC/ESRC Impact Fellowship in Cultural Policy and Regeneration.
Since then, I have worked on research into the legacy of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the long-term effects of the European Capital of Culture programme, and on the methods used to substantiate the role of arts and culture in urban regeneration as part of the AHRC Cultural Value Project.
More recently, I have worked on the AHRC-funded project 'The Art of Reconciliation: Do reconciliation-funded arts projects transform conflict?', and contributed to research informing the Irish Theatre Institute's report 'Speak Up: A Call For Change', and the Museum Association's report 'Local Authority Investment in Museums after a Decade of Austerity'.
My teaching in the department centres on the same issues explored in my research of social research methods and the role of culture, and I lead the provision of training in quantitative research methods at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have supervised PhD research into creative work and cultural policy and welcome queries from prospective students in these areas.
