In addition to traditional "open" surgery, we offer minimally invasive ("keyhole") surgery. This helps to minimise post-operative discomfort for the patients and drive shorter recovery times.
The service has a varied caseload, including:
- Abdominal surgery for removal or biopsy of tumours, investigation of vomiting and diarrhoea, removal of intestinal foreign bodies, treatment of urinary incontinence and more
- Tumour surgery and wound management, including management of traumatic injuries such as road traffic accidents
- Chest surgery, including:
- Lung lobectomy (taking out lung tissue that is diseased or damaged)
- PDA ligation (tying off blood vessels in the heart of young patients that haven’t properly closed off while in the womb)
- Pericardiectomy (taking out part of the sac surrounding the heart if it is diseased).
