Move, Week 2, end

END OF WEEK TWO. Friday evening, and a well deserved glass of your favourite tipple should be taken by all. It is hard to believe that we have managed the packing, moving, recommissioning and most of the unpacking in just two weeks. How come? Well, because everything fitted together, and everyone worked flexibly to make it happen. In no particular order (as they say on Strictly): the Facilities Management team who worked to make this a professional and successful move; the CTC moving crew, who did a fantastic job of forklifting all instruments and a mass of ancillary gear out of a first floor window, and across to the new labs; Ian (the Wigan Warrior!) the joiner who seems more motivated by solutions than problems, and to all the instrument engineers from Waters, Thermo, Shimadzu and Bruker, who worked with us to minimise downtime and who shared our excitement and pleasure at the move. Lots of appreciation to everyone else in Vets (esp Jim and Lee) and Biosciences (esp Laura) who made things work.

Last but not least, Duncan, who was grounded by the surgeons and unfortunately missed the fruits of three months of detailed, meticulous planning. Without all his efforts, it simply could not have gone as brilliantly as it did.

But, the biggest thanks go to the PFG team, who have grafted like demons to get us moved across. Guys, you all worked unbelievably hard, and I am really, really proud of you all. You are my heroes of the hour (many, many hours) and I owe you all, big time. I could hug you all!

We'll be back to full function next week, and that is nothing short of a miracle. And, we won't have to cross the Crown Street/Brownlow Hill chicken run any more!
