About
My name is Sonia Tucci and I am an MD graduated with honours from Universidad de Los Andes in 1990. From 1990 to 1992, I worked in an Immunology
Department and was directly involved in researching tropical parasite vaccines. In this department, I acquired several immunology/molecular biology skills that were complemented by a Molecular Biology MSc degree. In 1992, I started working as a lecturer in the Human Physiology Department of the aforementioned University, where I acquired considerable teaching experience, amounting in total to 8 years. The research performed in the Behavioural Laboratory assigned to the Physiology Department focused on microdialysis techniques coupled with several analysis methods such as HPLC and capillary electrophoresis. In this particular laboratory, I conducted several studies in both animals and humans and my research publication list is testament to many of these.
Following my interest in brain mechanisms underlying motivated behaviour. In 2000 I started a PhD in Psychopharmacology at King's College London under the supervision of Professor Sandra File. During my PhD, I gained further knowledge of many more aspects of behavioural/psychological research, which I consider, had been of great advantage in my previous position as a post-doctoral researcher and my current position as a senior lecturer in biological psychology.
