I regularly peer review papers for academic journals e.g. B J of Psychiatry; J of Affective Disorders; Palliative Medicine; BMJ ; BMJ open; J of Pain and Symp Management; BMC palliative care; BMC Health Services Research, PLOS One. I peer review grant applications for NIHR, Cancer Research UK, North West Cancer Research and other cancer charities

I am regularly invited to serve as external examiner and since 2019 have examined PhD degrees at Universities of Lancaster, Warwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, KCL and Birmingham

I provide media interviews on aspects related to palliative care and care of older people
