JUAS: Accelerator Training for oPAC Fellows

Published on

As part of the initial training six oPAC Fellows currently attend the five week Joint Universities Accelerator School (JUAS) course ‘Sciences and Physics of Particle Accelerators’, in Archamps, France 7th January – 7thFebruary 2013.

JUAS is organised by the European Scientific Institute with the support of 14 major European Universities and the CERN Accelerator School and was created to meet the Europe-wide demand for a foundation course on accelerator physics and associated technologies.

This School offers an intensive programme for students and was seen by the consortium to provide a sound training basis as our new Fellows as they take on their projects within the Network. Training included lectures and tutorials covering accelerator physics, relativity and electro magnetism, particle optics, longitudinal and transverse beam dynamics, synchrotron radiation, Linacs accelerators, cyclotrons and accelerator design.
