Current and past projects are organised by theme - flight simulation and CFD Laboratory.

Ultra high-fidelity real-time piloted simulation is a strong theme in the future plans of the group.  Approaches based on exploiting CFD-generated data to produce aerodynamic models for flight simulation with required properties (e.g. improved accounting for unsteady effects relevant in rotorcraft flight dynamics and fatigue prediction for fixed-wing aircraft) are being actively researched.  Effort will be put into validating the prediction of aerodynamics relevant to flight mechanics, and the first derivation of suitable aerodynamic models for extreme aerodynamic  
conditions. The availability of these models will advance the long term goal of developing a unique high-fidelity virtual engineering environment. Strong collaboration with UK and European industry ensures that the research conducted in the group impacts the development of aerospace technology.
