This is a public-facing event in which we will run an online workshop for the community group ‘Sin Fronteras’, part of the Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS). Based in London, the group engages older girls / young women of Latin American heritage in after-school social, academic and cultural activities. In the workshop we will introduce the group to the concepts, materials, activities, and purposes of ‘A Museum for Me’ physical and virtual workshops and craft kits.

We have developed bespoke materials and have been using these in workshops in the UK and Colombia before and during lockdown, to work with marginalised communities (e.g. victims and exiles of armed conflict) on themes of historical memory and representation; following the success of our work with the ‘Museo Nacional de Colombia’ or National Museum of Colombia we have been asked to engage young women in this work through LAWRS, so that they can make use of the materials developed by our project, and adapt the workshops to suit their own projects on heritage, representation and cultural identity.
