Funded by AHRC’s Language Acts and Worldmaking OWRI, the one-day event, 'Memory, Heritage and Languages' will showcase the latest research being undertaken in the areas of heritage and memory from a Modern Languages-informed perspective. Exploring alternative formats of memory-making, such as digital and interactive forms of memory, participatory forms of memory-making, story-telling, and self-curation, the event aims to demonstrate the importance of public integration and inclusion in identity creation, across a variety of contexts and locations. Other academic contributions to the event focus on the themes of state-sponsored memory, expectations of memory, identity narratives, gendered concepts of heritage, and the role of languages within these dynamics.
