Danae Zamboulis and Ben McDermott, IACD Postdocs, were recently awarded £2,000 to showcase work carried out by UoL IACD scientists at the Big Bang North West 2019: a STEM fair that enables school children to discover STEM-based careers available in their local area via fun, interactive activities. The grant was awarded by the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences Wellcome Trust Public Engagement Grants Scheme and the aim of this presentation is to encourage other staff and students to engage in other public engagement activities in the future. Come along and find out about their experience in applying for the grant and attending the Big Bang fair, which had over 8,000 attendees in just one day, as well as the challenges they faced in suspending someone from a real equine tendon!
