Dr. Emma Roberts, Associate Dean for Global Engagement (APSS) and Reader in History of Art & Design at Liverpool John Moores University, has convened an academic symposium on Jamaican art and culture. The symposium corresponds with the ‘Jamaica Making: The Theresa Roberts Art Collection’ exhibition that Emma has curated and which is currently on display at the Victoria Gallery & Museum, University of Liverpool until 9th July.

The symposium will take place on Thursday 14th April, 10:00am - 6:00pm in the Leggate Theatre, Victoria Gallery & Museum, but it will also be streamed live simultaneously. The event is free to attend and open to all. It is interdisciplinary in flavour and contains themes that relate to popular music, fashion, fine art, curatorial theory and much more. Several presenters are from the Jamaica National Gallery, as well as from other locations in Jamaica, Europe, the USA, the UK and LJMU.
