If you need support we're on hand to help you access our IT services. We'll be available in Halls of Residence during the weekend before Welcome Week, to help you get connected, and throughout Welcome Week we're available across campus.

What help can I get?

Visit us at the IT & Academic Registration Drop-in Centre if you need help to:

  • Activate your computing account
  • Complete academic registration
  • Access any of our IT services - including on your laptop, mobile or tablet

Where do I go?

Central Teaching Laboratories (CTL), PC Teaching Centre 6 (building 221, grid reference F5 on the University Campus Map).

When can I go?

You don't need an appointment - just drop in any time while the Centre is open:

  • Monday 18th September: 9:00am - 4:00pm
  • Tuesday 19th September: 9:00am - 4:00pm
  • Wednesday 20th September: 9:00am - 2:00pm
  • Thursday 21st September: 9:00am - 2:00pm
  • Friday 22nd September: 9:00am - 2:00pm

Support for laptops, mobiles and tablets

What help can I get?

If you need help to use our IT services on your Windows laptop, Macbook, mobile or tablet, drop in to the Mobile and Laptop Clinic. We'll help you to get connected to the University network (wired or through Wi-Fi), set up email on your phone or tablet and show you how to protect your device against viruses and malware.

Where do I go?

  • During Welcome Week (Monday 18th September to Friday 22nd September): Central Teaching Laboratories (CTL), PC Teaching Centre 6 (building 221, grid reference F5 on the University Campus Map).
  • From Monday 25th September to Friday 6th October: Computing Services, Brownlow Hill Building, CSD Service Desk (building 224, grid reference F7 on the University Campus Map).

When can I go?

You can drop in to the Mobile and Laptop Clinic at any point during any of the following times:

  • Monday 18th September: 9:00am - 4:00pm
  • Tuesday 19th September: 9:00am - 4:00pm
  • Wednesday 20th September: 9:00am - 2:00pm
  • Thursday 21st September: 9:00am - 2:00pm
  • Friday 22nd September: 9:00am - 2:00pm
  • Monday 25th September to Friday 6th October: 9:00am - 4:00pm

Help in the Halls

What help can I get?

If you'd like help to connect your own computer to the University's wired network or to the free Wi-Fi service, eduroam, (in available locations) you can speak to one of our staff based in Halls of Residence during the weekend of your arrival.

Where and when do I go?

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September: 10:00am - 4:00pm

  • Carnatic (Senior Common Room, 1st Floor, Carnatic House)
  • Crown Place (Off main Reception next to conference rooms)
  • Greenbank (Library, Annexe)
  • Vine Court (Mezzanine Common Room above Reception area)
