    About

    Personal Statement

I am currently a lecturer at the School of Allied Health Professions and Nursing (previously the School of Health Sciences) having joined the School in October 2013. I joined what was then the Faculty of Medicine in September 2006 as the manager of the Learning Technology and Web Communications Unit. I also served as the Faculty's e-Learning Sub-Dean for 12 months from October 2008. As a result of a Technical Services review, I was appointed as Team Leader for the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team, within the Institute of Learning and Teaching, in December 2012. Before joining the University of Liverpool I had various roles at Liverpool Hope University: lecturer in Human and Applied Biology, VLE Coordinator for Human and Applied Biology, REACHOut ICT Coordinator, LearnDirect Centre Manager, VLE Implementation Project Manager and e-Learning Manager.

As well as being the TEL lead for the School, I also serve as the School Assessment Officer. I have had a two-year full-time secondment as School Associate Head (Postgraduate Studies) and a one-year part-time secondment as the Faculty Canvas lead. I have served on various school, institute, faculty and university committees and working groups.

I provide pedagogical support and leadership in the use of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) within the School of Health Sciences. I have a particular interest in the use of wikis, video and audio, e-lectures, the 'flipped classroom', and the use of online learning systems to support learning and teaching activities. All this is far removed from my first degree in Applied Biology and my PhD in Ecotoxicology.
