    About

    Personal Statement

I have worked at the University of Liverpool since 2017. My research interests are around the ophthalmic care of children with special educational needs (SEN) and cerebral visual impairment. I have extensive clinical experience in this area having worked in the children's centre at York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for 10yrs prior to my appointment as lecturer at the University. My interest also led me to become co-chair of the British and Irish Orthoptic Society Clinical Advisory Group for SEN (2017-2021). My current research projects and collaborations are; the development of national guidance for children with cerebral visual impairment, assessment tools for children with severe cerebral visual impairment, parent stress, the impact of the use of smartphones on the ocular focusing mechanism (accommodation), and enhancing the online learning environment in higher education.
