Dr Giovanni Sala PhD

Personal Statement

Giovanni is a cognitive and data scientist interested in statistically modelling human cognition in experimental, clinical, and educational settings. In 2017, he completed a PhD in Psychology at the University of Liverpool (UK) with a thesis on cognitive training programmes, which earned him the APS Rising Star Award 2021. After the PhD, he moved to Japan and spent five years in several universities and medical institutions working on the cognitive, psychosocial, and biological correlates of successful ageing.
In 2023, he began a lectureship at the University of Liverpool. His research focuses on modelling ageing-associated cognitive decline and dementia via machine learning.
