Current Cold Chemical Physics Group members (from L to R): Paul Regan, Maks Roman, Lucy Morris, Brianna Heazlewood

Research conducted by the Cold Chemical Physics Group was celebrated at the 24th European Conference on the Dynamics of Molecular Systems (MOLEC) held in Aarhus, with Professor Brianna Heazlewood awarded the ‘Zdeněk Herman MOLEC Young Scientist Prize’.

The citation recognised the group’s development of new approaches for studying ions and radicals at low temperatures. Brianna was invited by the International Scientific Committee to deliver an Award Lecture at the MOLEC conference held in Aarhus from 30th June – 5th July.

Established in 2016, the prize is named after the Czech scientist Zdeněk Herman (1934-2021) and is awarded every two years to a pioneering young scientist in the field of molecular dynamics. The 'MOLEC Senior Prize' was awarded at the same event to Professor Gerard Meijer, Director of the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, for his seminal contributions to molecular spectroscopy and methods for generating cold molecules.
