John G Rutherglen Memorial Prize
Congratulations to Liverpool PDRA Ellen Sandford, who has been awarded the 2023 John G Rutherglen Memorial Prize.
The prize is awarded annually “…for outstanding work in experimental High Energy Physics by a postgraduate student at one of the Universities associated with the Daresbury Laboratory High Energy Physics programme.”
Ellen worked on the next-generation dark matter detector DarkSide-20k, expanding sensitivities to potential non-standard dark matter interactions and performing sub-GeV mass searches. She also worked on testing of the silicon photosensors used to instrument the detector.
Ellen is now working as a PDRA on the T2K and Hyper-K neutrino experiments.
