I am a Clinical Academic with a strong focus on the care of pregnant women with underlying medical conditions.
I am a Consultant Physician with primary clinical training is in Endocrinology & Diabetes and General Internal Medicine (Barts Health NHS Trust, London), with sub-specialisation with RCP-credential in Obstetric Medicine (Imperial Colleges NHS Trust, London).
I am currently a Wellcome Trust Global Health PhD fellow with the University of Liverpool investigating non-communicable diseases in pregnancy at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome research Programme in Blantyre, Malawi.
I am Principal Investigator of the PRONE Study (Pregnancy & Recognition Of NCDs Early) which aims to uncover key uncertainties about NCDs in low-income settings such as prevalence, risk factors, impact on pregnancy outcomes and barriers to quality antenatal care. My fellowship employs multiple methods including quantitative analysis of pregnancy outcomes, clinical prediction modelling, qualitative analysis of interviews with health workers and pregnant women, and systematic review of interventions from around the world.
My previous work was undertaken at the MRC Unit in Uganda working on a multi-site study investigation gestational diabetes.
I have worked clinically across the African region in Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Uganda, Malawi and South Africa.
