To practically apply theoretical knowledge gained in MUMA631. This module will equip students with a knowledge of appropriate teaching styles and methods for 1–1 and group contexts and provide opportunities for these to be applied in practical, real-world situations.
It will enable students to evaluate critically their own teaching styles and methods, and to reflect on their teaching practices.

(LO1) To effectively apply theoretical knowledge of pedagogy in a practical setting.

(LO2) To plan and deliver lesson/workshops to group/individual students.

(LO3) To have acquired the ability to communicate and use a pragmatic but informed approach to the practice of group /1–1 teaching.

(LO4) To have developed an open-minded and responsive approach to new or previously unexplored areas of teaching and demonstrate a willingness to engage with these within a 1–1/group teaching situation.

(LO5) To have developed the capacity to draw on personal experience to inform sound pedagogical thought and demonstrate an understanding of providing feedback.

(S1) Communication. Listening and questioning, respecting others, contributing to discussions, communicating in a foreign language, influencing, presentations.

(S2) Positive attitude/ self-confidence. A 'can-do' approach, a readiness to take part and contribute; openness to new ideas and the drive to make these happen.

The content of the module will be adapted to the needs of the cohort and the availability of guest speakers.
The module content will focus on practical activities in the following:
• Kodaly
• Dalcroze
• Alexander Technique
• Implementing lesson plans
• Using/creating lesson resources

The core content of the module will focus on the following or similar:
• Delivering workshops
• Teaching peers and other students
• Receiving and giving feedback in real-world situations

Students will be expected to participate in demonstrations.
