Aims

The aim is for students to develop an understanding of the practical application of theories and technical skills in a real work environment. Additionally, project (team) based activities will allow the students to develop their transferable skills and professional competence, leading to enhanced employability.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Gain experience in a real work environment by assuming responsibility for tasks and completing these tasks on time and to a given quality.

(LO2) Gain understanding of the host company/organisation. In doing so, broaden knowledge of the application of mathematics and the importance of this in the relevant field/industry.

(LO3) Synthesise theoretical knowledge and technical skills to analyse problems, to pose solutions, and to evaluate those solutions.

(LO4) Reflect on the development of transferable skills and professional competencies.

(LO5) Communicate the results of mathematical investigations in an oral format.


Syllabus

 

Students will agree duties with their line manager. Some general considerations to be aware of during the course of their duties will be:

Health and safety at work;
Professional conduct;
Company practices/standards and organisation; and
Reflection on skills development.
