Aims |
|
The first aim of this module is to introduce students to a range of graphical and modelling techniques, which include precise survey drawings, more expressive sketches and model-making skills to represent architecture and space. The second aim is for students to develop an understanding of 'place'. |
Learning Outcomes |

(LO1) Develop an understanding and knowledge of recognised drawing conventions. |

(LO2) Prepare architectural representations using a range of media. |
|
(LO3) For students to be able to capture the characteristics of a given ‘site’ as a place through models and graphical means. |

(LO4) LEARNING OUTCOMES IN RELATION TO PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Certain modules in Architecture address the General Criteria as defined by the RIBA and ARB. Fulfilling these Criteria is an important part of meeting the professional requirements relating to both RIBA accreditation and ARB Prescription. Syllabus |
|
Students will be working in tutor groups of about 12, both online and during their studio days on campus. Visiting site(s) and self-directed exploration of the city, sketching their experiences, expressive drawings and montage, 3d Construct based on montage, drawing the 3d construct (renderings), scale survey of part of site, superimposition of rendering onto site survey and 3d exploration in model making. |
