Social Programme & Congress Excursions

The social programme will include an opening reception, an informal dinner and the Congress dinner. The formal Congress Dinner will be held in the magnificent setting of Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, the largest cathedral building in Britain. It will be held on Saturday, 30th August and should be an evening to remember!

There will also be a variety of technical excursions and an extensive accompanying persons’ programme will be offered.

Accompanying persons programme

There will be a special programme of visits and excursions for those attending the Congress as accompanying persons. The programme will include:

 The Liver Building

 

 

 

a guided tour of Liverpool on Thursday 28th August

 

a guided excursion to Port Sunlight and Chester on Friday 29th August.

Accompanying persons are, of course, welcome to attend the Opening Reception on Wednesday 27th and the formal Congress Dinner on Saturday 30th August. There is no additional cost for those who have paid the Accompanying Persons registration fee.

Post Congress tour to the English Lake District

There will be a post Congress excursion to the Lake District, one of the most beautiful parts of England, on Sunday 31st August. The excursion will include lunch in Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District. The group will travel by coach and there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the wonderful lake and mountain scenery. The tour will return to Liverpool early on Sunday evening. All those participating in the Congress are very welcome to join this excursion for which there will be a modest charge.

Local Events

Liverpool is currently European Capital of Culture 2008 and as such there are many events being organised in and around the city: 

'The Liverpool Cityscape' by artist Ben Johnson will be displayed at the Walker Art Gallery 

Auguste Rodin "The Kiss" is currently on display at Tate Liverpool with an exhibition of the work of Gustav Klimt from 30 May  –  31 August
