Final Meeting of the DITANET Steering Committee

The DITANET Steering Committee held its final meeting at the Cockcroft Institute, UK on May 16th. It reviewed all recent events that were organized by the network, such as an international workshop on beam loss monitoring at DESY, Germany and one on beam position monitoring at CERN, Switzerland. On this occasion, also all project outcomes across the consortium were discussed together with the progress that the trainees have made. The training program provided to the DITANET fellows was found to be extremely broad, with a strong intersectoral character and is expected to be an excellent base for their future careers.

Although the project will soon come to an end, many highlights were yet to come: An international Symposium presenting all project outcomes would be held at the Cockcroft Institute later on May 16th, the project would have an exhibitor stand at the international particle accelerator conference IPAC and a beam instrumentation booklet would be published by the consortium which shall serve as a standard reference for the whole beam diagnostics community.

The future of the DITANET project beyond its initial four year time frame was also discussed: Many of the new initiatives that DITANET started have turned out extremely beneficial for the fellows and the wider community, such as the network's Topical Workshops series. The Steering Committee will continue to initiate ideas for beam diagnostics and instrumentation events, in particular via the recently approved research and training networks oPAC and LA³NET.
