STFC Hartree Centre have released their annual highlights report for the last year. The Hartree centre is a key partner of the LIV.INNO project as they contribute to the centre’s training program and they offer placement opportunities to students.

The Hartree Centre helps UK businesses and organisations of any size to explore and adopt supercomputing, data science and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for enhanced productivity, smarter innovation and economic growth. The Centre is home to some of the most advanced digital technologies and experts in the UK.

The Hartree Centre have had many successes this year including work in the areas of engineering, materials, health and social care and the environment.

In the area of engineering the Hartree Centre have worked with valve technology company Oliver Hydcovalves, who supply and manufacture pipeline ball valves for hydrogen transport. They have helped to reduce prototyping and testing needs, reducing costs and optimising the process using supercomputers.

STFC Hartree Centre's Materials Discovery Engine (Hartree-MaDE) simplifies and automates the process of materials discovery. Businesses can use the tool to supply them with candidate materials, without the need for expensive trial and error procedures in the lab!

In the area of health and social care STFC Hartree Centre have been working with game studio Autsera to create an in-game dashboard that helps parents and teachers to track a child’s educational progress. Their data science team made a new scoring matrix that compares scores from different puzzles in the app.

In the Climate Resilience Demonstrator (CReDo), STFC Hartree Centre are using connected data and virtual modelling to prevent disruption to public services during extreme weather. This is helping to mitigate the effect of flooding on essential service delivery and performance.

LIV.INNO would like to congratulate STFC Hartree Centre on their successes in the past year and the CDT looks forward to continuing to work with them in the future.
