Why consider an MRes programme?

Enrolling on one of the  Master of Research (MRes) degrees available in the Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease will give you a great grounding – whether you choose to follow it with a PhD, or embark on your chosen career.

Our MRes programmes provide the perfect research background for those who want to go on to further study – or, if you decide that’s not for you, you will still have an internationally-recognised Masters-level postgraduate qualification.

Our MRes courses will not only prepare students for doctoral research – giving you a completely sound scientific grounding as well as vital expertise in your chosen field, but will also provide employability skills which will help you pursue other careers such as medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, teaching or in industry.

They are very popular with international students so you’ll be working in the company of postgraduate researchers from around the world, as well as taking advantage of the Institute’s many overseas partnerships, and its connections with industry.

Depending on your area of study, it’s worth talking to us about financial assistance too. For example, we have bursaries available via our links to CIMA, the MRC Arthritis Research Centre for Integrated research into Musculoskeletal Ageing – a collaboration between the Universities of Liverpool, Sheffield and Newcastle.

And don’t just experience University life – Liverpool is a great place to live, work and study too.
