Prof Brian Tomsett

The Dean is a member of the full-time academic staff of the Faculty who serves as Dean on a part-time basis for a fixed term. He is the Senior Officer of the Faculty and represents the Faculty to outside bodies. He is an ex-officio member of Senate Academic Committee and several other important bodies. In the Science Faculty, the Dean chairs the Board of the Faculty and the Faculty Sub-Group of Senate Academic Committee.

Mr Paul Clarkson

The Sub-Dean serves both the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering, but is based in the Faculty of Science and has his day-to-day responsibilities there. He is a member of the senior administrative staff of the University and reports to the Academic Secretary as well as to the Deans of the two Faculties. He serves as Secretary to the Science Faculty Sub-Group and the Board of the Faculty of Science and its major committees.

Dr Malcolm Taylor
Admissions Sub-Dean and Senior Tutor (1996/2002) (Email: taylormj@liv.ac.uk)
An Admissions Sub-Dean is a member of the full-time academic staff of the Faculty who serves as Admissions Sub-Dean on a part-time basis for a fixed (but renewable) term. He administers the admission of all undergraduates to degree courses in the Faculty. The Admissions Sub-Dean also acts as a Senior Tutor, a role described below.

Dr Kathy Johnson
Academic Sub-Dean and Director of Combined Studies (2003-) (Email: K.A.Johnson@liv.ac.uk)
The Academic Sub-Dean serves on the same basis as the Admissions Sub-Dean. She administers matters concerned with the progress (or usually the lack of it!) of undergraduates in the Faculty.
The Academic Sub-Dean also acts as Director of Combined Honours. The Director of Combined Honours acts as Course Director for the Combined Honours degree course and has a proactive role in trying to extend the opportunities available in the scheme. 

Dr Leo Carroll
Senior Tutor (Email:ljc@liv.ac.uk)
The Senior Tutors concern themselves with the welfare of undergraduates in the Faculty. They advise departmental senior tutors and individual tutors as well as counselling students who appear before Faculty Progress Committee.

Mr Steve Smitton
Administrative Assistant (since January 1995) (Email: s.smitton@liv.ac.uk)
The Administrative Assistant serves both the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering. Although based in the Faculty of Engineering and having his day-to-day responsibilities there, he may assist or deputise for the Sub-Dean at meetings in the Faculty of Science. He is a member of the senior administrative staff of the University. He serves as Secretary to the Engineering Faculty Sub-Group and to the Board of the Faculty of Engineering and its major committees.
