MARLIN trip to Conwy

I mainly use tides favourably (this helps a lot) and motor at my displacement speed (5 to 7 knots).

Sun 4 May: Leave Liverpool Marina near HW at 14.25. Leave via Rock Channel, then past wind farms and Great Orme. Slight waves. Arrive at entry to Conwy channel 19.30, close to local LW (21.00) but neapish tide. Follow buoyed channel in since still light. Minimum depth under keel 4ft at scabs. Tie up to pontoon with power boats at 20.15. [so nearly 6 hours Marina to Conwy]

Mon 5 May (Bank Holiday): pick up divers at Beacons pontoon 6.15am. Leave Conwy and head to Boiler wreck. Slight waves. Then to Hornby Cave on Great Orme's Head for second dive: one seal nearby. Wind southerly - so very calm inshore.

After dropping off divers at Beacons (with difficulty since disabled boat was moored at pontoon), head back out at 12.38. Adverse current leaving in Conwy channel (and lots of yachts) - get to C4 by 13.00 and head N to cut across banks towards Orme. Decide to aim to arrive at Liverpool marina before last lock-in (circa 17.30). Avoiding strong ebb tide in the Mersey meant arriving earlier (ideally before HW: 15.54). So turn up the revs and cruise at 13 knots: arrive in marina lock 16.00. [so 3.5 hours Beacons to Marina].
