Born 1966. B.Sc. (Hons) Zoology with Marine Zoology, UCNW Bangor, 1988; Ph.D. Physiology, University of Liverpool, 1991. Previously worked in the Departments of Physiology and Medicine at Liverpool University, moving to a temporary Wellcome Trust funded lectureship in Physiology at Liverpool in 1994. In 1995, appointed as a Non-Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, Liverpool with promotion to Senior Lecturer in 2003. In 2009, promoted to a Readership in Gastroenterology (formerly within School of Clinical Sciences), now part of the Institute of Translational Medicine. Promoted to Chair in 2013.
