Prof Harish Poptani
Prof Poptani's research focus is on the development of tranlsational MRI and spectroscopic methods in cancer and neuro-developmental disorders. He has been working in the field of MRI for over 25 years and has expertise in developing microscopic MRI methods as well as methods to assess tissue metabolism, blood flow and diffusion tensor imaging. Prior to joining the University, he was a based at the University of Pennsylvania for over 17 years.
Dr Mahon Maguire
Dr Mahon Maguire is the facility manager for the Centre for Pre-clinical Imaging. He has spent more than 15 years working with high-field MR imaging, MR spectroscopy, and NMR. He has a particular interest in non-proton spectroscopy and metabolic measurement in cardiac research. He has extensive experience in MR physics and method development, programming, and building hardware. Prior to joining the University, he spent more than ten years implementing in vivo high-resolution 31P and 23Na MR cardiac spectroscopy at the University of Oxford.
Dr Jack Sharkey
Dr Jack Sharkey is the technical manager and the radiation protection supervisor for the CPI. He has a background in Pharmacology and Toxicology with recent research focussed on the safety and efficacy of regenerative medicine therapies. He has used luminescent, ultrasound and optoacoustic imaging to assess organ function and track biodistribution of potential regenerative medicine therapies. Jack has expertise in multispectral optoacoustic tomography, luminescent imaging and ultrasound imaging with a burgeoning interest in PET, SPECT and CT.
