About
I'm a historian of literature, specializing in the British Romantic period, and working primarily on Wordsworth and Coleridge, their influences and legacies. My book on Wordsworth and the 'Recluse' project, 'Gothic Romanticism' (Palgrave USA, 2010), was awarded the MLA Prize for Independent Scholars and has recently been republished in an expanded second edition. My work has appeared in 'Romanticism', 'The Wordsworth Circle', 'Review of English Studies', 'English', and other journals, and I have also contributed chapters in major edited volumes including 'The New Cambridge Companion to Coleridge' (2022), 'The Oxford Handbook of British Romantic Prose' (2024), 'The Cambridge History of the Gothic' (2020) and 'The Oxford Handbook of Victorian Medievalism' (2020). Current projects include a scholarly edition of Ann Radcliffe's breakthrough third novel, 'The Romance of the Forest' (1791) for 'The Cambridge Edition of the Works of Ann Radcliffe' (8 vols., 2025-28), and a monograph provisionally entitled 'Re-enactment and Romanticism'.
