Learning and Teaching 2025

Learning and Teaching Conference 2025

The University of Liverpool Learning and Teaching Conference 2025, hosted by the Centre for Innovation in Education, will be held on the 26 June 2025. The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Learning and Teaching for a Sustainable Future’.

We welcome Professor Doug Bourn, Professor of Development Education, IOE - Curriculum, Pedagogy & Assessment as the conference keynote speaker, Professor Bourn’s talk is titled Pedagogy of Hope for Global, Social and Environmental Justice.

Higher education plays a pivotal role in embedding the values, practices and ethos of sustainability and sustainable development in both students and staff. As they leave university and progress through life, graduates from the university will be responsible for developing new ways to manage and navigate global challenges, such as climate change, inequality, poverty, and ultimately to change the world for the better. It is our responsibility as educators to ensure that graduates have the tools to be able to do so.

The University of Liverpool has therefore prioritised sustainability within its new strategic framework, Strategy 2031. Liverpool is committed to ensuring that the university has a positive local and global impact in this area through both teaching and research activity, and that we address global challenges facing today’s society head-on.
