International Women's Week 2022
7th-11th March, 2022

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Marked annually on March 8th, IWD is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness about women's equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and fundraise for female-focused charities.

The campaign theme for IWD 2022 is #BreaktheBias. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to moveahead. Knowing that bias exists isn't enough. Action is needed to level the playing field.

We are told again and again by patriarchal mass media, by sexist leaders,that feminism is dead, that it no longer has meaning. In actuality, females and males of all ages, everywhere, continue to grapple with the issue of gender equality, continue to seek roles for themselves that will liberate rather than restrict and confine; and they continue to turn towards feminism for answers. Visionary feminism offers us hope for the future.

Organisations to Support

The Women’s Organisation

The Women's Organisation is the largest developer and deliverer of training and support for women in the UK. They campaign for equality, empowering women, and rising aspirations.

Liverpool Domestic Abuse Service

LDAS is a grassroots community-based service that specialises in the support of women and girls who have experienced domestic abuse.

Amadudu

A trailblazing refuge, the first refuge in Merseyside to provides specialised services and support for Black and Minority Ethnic women and girls who have experienced and are fleeing Domestic Abuse.

The Homeless Period

Founded by Natalie Denny, this initiative believes that tampons and towels should bemade available through homeless shelters, the same way the government provides condoms.

Black Females in Architecture

BFA is a network and enterprise founded to increase the visibility of black and black mixed heritage women within architectural industry and other built environment fields.
