Study with us

The Institute of Psychology, Health and Society is a thriving, inclusive and nurturing learning community.

We are committed to delivering world-class research and our students play an active role in delivering this work. We directly employ postgraduate research students and are committed to developing the careers of our researchers.

We work closely with the School of Psychology and School of Medicine, who run affiliated taught programmes. Academics draw upon their current research projects to deliver a research-led teaching agenda, placing new advancements in health and wellbeing at the heart of the curriculum.

Our postgraduate research completion record is excellent. Over 90% of students submit within a four-year period and those with outstanding results have been offered full-time academic posts within the Institute after completing their Doctorate.

Our governance structure encourages postgraduate research students to contribute to the strategic running of the Institute, where they are active in making key decisions through representation on a number of committees. We have a designated PGR Committee that oversees the PGR Strategy, with the aim of continually improving the student experience.
