Teaching

I have taught and examined a wide range of students,
ranging from school children to government ministers.

MB ChB (Medical Undergraduates)

In Glasgow, my undergraduate teaching included substantial activity developing the new problem based learning (PBL) medical curriculum launched in 1996.

My undergraduate teaching activity in Liverpool has included chairing the MB ChB Curriculum Review Board, (2000 -2003), plus PBL teaching, lectures OSCE examining and Health of the Nation Theme Lead (Joint with Kate Fleming, 2018 - 2019).

I now create materials for lectures and small group sessions, delivering both face-to-face (and virtually during the Pandemic).

Postgraduate Teaching

I particularly enjoy mentoring colleagues, facilitating multidisciplinary research teams, writing papers and building grant proposals.

My postgraduate teaching experience, initially in Glasgow and now in Liverpool, relates particularly to the Master of Public Health (MPH) courses: lectures, tutorials, examinations and supervision of students’ research projects.
