Teaching and Learning
MB ChB (Medical Undergraduates)
In Glasgow, my undergraduate teaching included substantial activity developing the new problem based learning (PBL) medical curriculum launched in 1996.
My undergraduate teaching activity in Liverpool has included chairing the MB ChB Curriculum Review Board, (2000 -2003), plus PBL teaching, lectures OSCE examining and now
MB ChB: Health of the Nation Theme Lead (Joint with Kate Fleming, March 2018 onwards).
I particularly enjoy mentoring colleagues, facilitating multidisciplinary research teams, writing papers and building grant proposals.
My extensive postgraduate teaching experience in Glasgow, and then in Liverpool, has related particularly to the Master of Public Health (MPH) courses: lectures, tutorials and examinations;
plus supervision of students’ research projects which culminate in 10,000 word dissertations.
