Personal Statement

My primary academic interest is in exploring how Realist methodology (i.e., Realist Evaluation & Synthesis) can be used to improve knowledge production in the fields of biomedicine, health service, and social science. I am exploring how to theorize in realist evaluation and the nexus of contextual determinants + mechanisms to provide a platform that realistically explains how programmes work. My secondary interest is in studying Participatory Research (academic – community collaborative research).

I am the Director of the Centre for Advancement in Realist Evaluation and Synthesis at the University of Liverpool and offer realist methodology workshops on a regular basis.
