New Professors in the Department of Public Health and Policy

We are delighted to announce that we have 3 new Professors in the department.

Professor Ben Barr, Professor Ciara Kierans and Professor Francine Watkins.

This is a well-deserved achievement. The recognition comes after many years of hard work and with recognition of the high degree of their contributions to their fields.

We are very proud of them and send our sincere congratulations.

New Doctors in the Department of Public Health and Policy

We are delighted to also share the news that Suzie Rotherham and Shelda-Jane Smith passed their PhD vivas last week.

Suzie’s thesis is on Inequalities in gastrointestinal infections in families with young children: an ethnographic approach (Supervisors: Margaret Whitehead and Jessie Cooper; Examiners: (Internal) Ciara Kierans and (External) Jennie Popay).

Shelda’s thesis is on a passage to adulthood: ethnographic perspectives on transitional care for adolescents with epilepsy and co-morbid learning disability (Supervisors: Ciara Kierans, Adele Ring, Bridget Young; Examiners: (Internal) Michael Mair (External) Carol Kingdon).
