National Institute for Marine Research & Development (NIMRD) Romania

The National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” is a governmental institution, with main activity the coastal and marine research. It is also the national Coordinator and focal point with respect to international research tasks and responsibilities in the field of marine research. The Institute is under coordination of Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. The main research fields of NIMRD include: marine hydrology and physics, marine chemistry, sedimentology and coastal morpho-dynamics, marine biology and microbiology, marine ecology and radio-ecology, applied ecology and aquaculture, marine pollution, management of fisheries resources, marine biochemistry, marine engineering and technology, ecological protection and amelioration of littoral lakes. In recent years, the Institute has been fully involved in the environmental assessment of the Romanian sector of the Black Sea.
