Choral Director Music

    About

    Personal Statement

Louise is a conductor, singer and violinist, with over twenty years’ performance experience as a soloist and choral singer. After a decade as a music specialist teacher in secondary and primary schools, she went on to study on the Sing For Pleasure Conductor Training Programme. Since joining the University of Liverpool as Choral Director in 2019, Louise has set up the Vocal Leadership placement as part of the SOTA300 module, and the associated 'Singtastic!' programme with local primary schools; taken the Chamber Choir on its first European concert tour; set up the Upper Voices Choir; rebranded and developed the UNIty Choir, for staff, students and members of the local community; and directed University choirs in concerts from the prestigious gala opening of the Tung Auditorium to the Eurovision Eurovillage stage.

Alongside her work at the University, Louise enjoys a busy freelance career. She is a tutor and Choral Events Lead for Sing for Pleasure, leads workplace choirs for The Hallé for organisations such as the NHS, Stockport Council, and BAE Systems, is a regular guest tutor for Sale Youth Choir, and is in demand as a workshop leader for chamber, community and children's choirs. She is also an accomplished soprano soloist in both oratorio and for recitals across the North West, sings with Liverpool Bach Collective, and as a professional choral singer.

Louise retains a keen interest in music education and the role of singing in schools and communities, and the associated areas of vocal pedagogy and musicianship.
