Personal Statement

After undergraduate and post graduate studies from Madras in South India Dr Aravind Ponnuswamy trained in South Wales, Mersey Region and after a short stint in East Sussex as consultant from 2010, joined Countess of Chester as Consultant Respiratory Physician in 2012 .

His main interests are in interstitial lung disease .He leads TB, ILD an Oxygen service at Chester in addition to being Training programme director for General Internal Medicine for the Mersey Region, Health education England. He took on the post of MBBCh Clinical teacher role (Honorary Senior lecturer) in 2018. He has completed his PG Cert/Diploma in Medical education from University of Chester and recently awarded MA in Medical education from Edgehill University Liverpool. He regularly peer reviews abstract and articles for journals like JMCR. His RG score is 22.5 and has published articles, abstracts and textbook chapters.

A Fellow of the Edinburgh and London Royal Colleges of Physicians, He is also member of the SAC committee GIM at the JRPCTB and an International PACES examiner for the Royal college of Edinburgh and AAC committee for the RCP London. His educational interest includes eLearning and UG teaching.
